A Unique Approach to Wedding Videography

NYC Wedding on Super 8

New York City Super 8 Wedding Video

I’m not here to direct your day.

As a documentary Super 8 wedding videographer, I’m here to capture real moments, as they are happening. I look for the things others miss, the glances, the laughter, the emotion, and capture that on a medium that feels true to life.

That’s why I shoot on Super 8 and 16mm motion picture film.

Why Super 8?

NYC Wedding on Super 8

New York City Super 8 Wedding Video

Because your love deserves more than digital.

There is a quality to film that digital can’t replicate. Film is the closest we’ve been able to capture light the way our eye sees and that is why it’s so pleasing to look at.

I don’t use presets nor film simulations. Super 8 and 16mm is real motion picture film that captures light as it passes through a 50-year-old camera.

Color Theory

Super 8 and 16mm are the same motion picture film used to make movies by Hollywood filmmakers. That means your Super 8 wedding film needs to be color-graded like one too.

Your Super 8 wedding video will by edited and color-graded by me. This means I have control over what the colors and feel of your wedding video will be.

  • 16mm is Super 8’s big brother. It has the same texture and colors as Super 8, but with an overall more polished and cleaner look. 16mm is considered a professional film format and has been used to create movies and TV shows for decades. Sex In The City, The Walking Dead, Gilmore Girls, Moonrise Kingdom, and Black Swan were all shot on 16mm film!

  • Audio cannot be recorded on Super 8 or 16mm cameras anymore. Instead of using audio, your Super 8 film will be paired with a carefully selected song that complements the pacing, emotion, and atmosphere of your day.

If it’s important to have audio recorded for speeches and vows, I offer digital recordings via camcorder.

  • Yes! Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island are all covered. I also travel for popular venues outside of New York City such as Philadelphia, New Jersey & Long Island.

  • I can shoot any wedding venue on Super 8 film. However, I love shooting at elegant venues with either an outdoor space or lots of natural light. Some locations I’ve booked for Super 8 at include: Central Park, The Guggenheim, The River Cafe, Prospect Park Boathouse, The Sanctuary Roosevelt Island, and Oheka Castle.

  • Absolutely. While based in NYC, I regularly film weddings on Super 8 in the Hamptons, Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Catskills/Upstate New York, and beyond.

  • Turnaround times vary by season, but most NYC couples receive their Super 8 wedding film within 8–12 weeks after the wedding.

  • Yes! Multi-location weddings across NYC are common and we plan logistics accordingly to ensure nothing is missed.

  • Film loves light. So any venue that is outdoors, in direct sunlight will look incredible on film. Indoor venues with large windows also look great on film. No matter the lighting conditions, I have invested in the best cameras and equipment to be able to shoot at any venue at any time of day.

  • Super 8 wedding videography has become very popular. I highly suggest booking me for Super 8 or 16mm as early as 1 to 1.5 years in advanced. Super 8 has become more common, but 16mm is still very niche and there are not a lot of videographers that offer this format. Popular months in May and Sept/Oct get booked up very quick.
